What makes Havana so unique?

We have all imagined ourselves at some point in a “almendrón” with our hair blowing in the wind, speeding down the Malecón road. Just to capture some stories doing this, it’s worth traveling to Havana.

The cuisine, the musical culture, the beaches, its nature, the nightlife and music scene, its history, Telégrafo Axel Hotel La Habana… all of that is Havana.

Old Havana was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 and developed around four main squares: Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de San Francisco de Asís.

Additionally, you can’t forget about Plaza de la Revolución, as it holds the most historical value due to the significant events of the Cuban Revolution.

You can’t leave without trying “Moros y Cristianos” (the famous rice and beans dish) and its paradisiacal beaches. The closest ones to the city center, accessible by almendrón, are Playa Bacuranao, Playa Santa María del Mar, and our favorite: Playa Boca Ciega, the most gay-friendly.

And if you add nightlife to all of this… The streets of Havana don’t sleep at night; colors, people, music, and Cuban rum are the main ingredients. We recommend the bar Espacios and Essencia Habana, but if you want to extend the night further, you’ll have to go to Varadero or Miramar

Oh, and the best time to visit Havana is from November to April.
