Today, September 23rd, is Bisexual Visibility Day, and since 1999, this day has aimed to recognize the bisexual community and challenge stereotypes.
Why is it important?
Because bisexual people often face invisibility, even within the LGBTQ+ community. Being visible means being free to love without labels. Today, we break those barriers too.
A fun fact: Did you know that Freddie Mercury, one of rock’s greatest legends, identified as bisexual?
Like him, many other icons have been erased or forced to choose a single “label.” Bisexual Visibility Day reminds us that being bisexual doesn’t mean being “in between” anything, but rather being true to who you are.
Interestingly, bisexual people make up the majority within the LGBTQ+ community, yet they also face the most discrimination, even within the collective. The term “bisexual erasure” refers to this invisibility and the lack of representation in the media. That’s why visibility is more necessary than ever.
At Axel Hotels, we believe that everyone should feel welcome to be themselves, no matter who they love.
This is the protocol for our safe place, our manifesto, our latest campaign. Axel Hotels, a place over the labels, where it is not necessary to define ourselves, the reason why we exist.
